Community Renewal:   Does your condominium community need renewal?

Condominium deals with property, business and community. All three must be in balance to have a condominium complex in which people want to own and love.

Condominiums are dynamic communities- they change as the owners change. Different owners come with different backgrounds and bring different expectations about their community. Those expectations affect the content of the bylaws, the style of the board and management, the social atmosphere of the complex, and the relationship between all the persons involved.

How would you know when your condo community needs renewal? Have the challenges to the bylaws increased? Do more owners raise concerns about the board or manager? Does it seem that fewer owners understand what is done and why? Are you using the lawyer’s services more? Are you dealing with more irate owners? Are owners less tolerant of each other? Has attendance at the AGM increased or decreased dramatically? Any of these symptoms may signal a need to look at community renewal.

Community renewal involves all the owners and residents. It enables the community to re-establish its identity, its priorities and its social nature. A community renewal process can be designed to meet the specific needs of your condominium complex.
